The Epic Unbuild of Clint Eastwood

I know you're PROLLY all like, "OH ANOTHER BUILD THREAD PRETTY COOL I GUESS!"

Well shut up, you don't know anything!

I got this pile 0 awesome about October 2010. My stipulations for a car were RWD, cool looking, cheap on insurance and customizable.

So that put E30s, 240SXs, Miatas, AE86s and SC400s in my radar.

Eventually I got this. Clint Eastwood. White on the outside, black and leathery on the inside.





I drove it stock for a while. Then I wanted to address some of the issues that it had. Like some body rust. And the diving boards. And the ride height.

I was ****ing around with a new camera and took this neat-o photo.



From there it went downhill. One afternoon, the release bearing went. The car was fairly un-drivable. No, it was fully undrivable. It was undrivable.

The guy who I bought it from offered to fix it for me, if I could get him parts and get the car down to him.

When I got it back, 4.5 months later...there were so many issues with the car it wasn't funny. The huge clutch kit I got wasn't even opened. Only the release bearing was replaced...

The centre support bearing was welded in, there were broken bolts, the exhaust was welded on, with holes on the top of the downpipe. Even the starter was shimmed weird and made a horrible racket.

Summer, I set in repairing all the stuff I could, but from here it was downhill.

Such as blowing a tire at 130 on the 417...





I re-did the clutch job, properly. I de-diving boarded the car. I tried to deal with the exhaust. (nope)







At this point, I decided I wanted to get a nicer E30. I've saved up some cash, so I bought this.



When I say I saved up, I mean I took $300 out of my savings for a quite clean, running, missing a fender (its on Clint), 325e. And it had good condition Oxblood M3 interior. (yes, bucket rear seats.)

When I realized that a M20B27 is a piece of underpowered shit, I went and got an M50TUB25 from Montreal with 160,000 km on it. For $500, with the E36 steering rack, it was a good deal.







Next I needed a E34 oil pan, pick up and dip stick. So I found a '92 525i being parted out and took the engine for the stealie price of $100. (did have to drive for an hour to get it though)



In the mean time, I sewed a shift boot and bought a wheel for $90 (Nardi).





ANYWAYS: This new sandy Egyptian colored car is called ANoobIs. Cuz it's a Noob Build, clothed in the fallen skins of the dead. (Mr. Eastwood)

I'm seriously considering keeping the diving boards on it, with the valance of the later model. I'm not sure yet. I do like this car though.

Well, two E30s. One is the DD (white), the other is the swap car (Sandy Egyptian puke). Those last two are just examples of cars with diving boards, and a late model valance.

And 2 M50s.

Yesterday, I finished tearing down the engine. (with some help)

Eww...a bird was living under the motor mount arms?





Getting the crank bolt out. It was scarier when we actually did it.

The engine is being put together now, since all the parts came in.

You need more. I like the swap car. I want that rear spoiler to add to my collection. I also want those rims too (so that I can shit on them and heave them off a cliff. fuc k those things are ugly).

Well the car on Slipstreams isn't his. I wouldn't run the slips on a nice BMW. Maybe a Honda or VW.

Your OP is deceiving! I too thought those last pictures were your car(s), and then wondered how the f you bought any of them for 300$ lol

Good luck on the build we need more deets!

Oh and keep the diving boards they're pimp I love mine now -- you can even compress the shocks to make them a bit more subtle if you want

Which is of course the long drawn out way of saying "1988"

In a way, I sorta miss my old diving board e30's. I used to bump my buddies in their MKII VW's and e30's at stoplights, but now with plastic bumpers, it's not so much fun anymore... just keep the f uck away from my car with it! (actually, I like when you park near my car. Makes my car look like a million bucks!)

Anyways, I was working on it again today, and got most of the M50 back together. I just wish I have access to hardcore cleaning solutions. I don't really care what the engine looks like that this point, I just need a car on the road, then I can get all crazy with the optional work.



Question: one oil filter housing is from the E36 M50TU (left) and one is from the E34 M50 NV (right). The VANOS one has a broken power steering bolt in it, while the other doesn't. They're the same part # on RealOEM, but they look different. (especially the VANOS one on the left has that valve at the bottom)

Do you have vano's? If so it probably needs that valve unless its just the bypass for when/if the filter is clogged and won't allow flow.

Looking closely it seems the one on the right has a valve in the same cavity going right to left. If what i'm seeing is the piston/rod for the valve. If that's the case then it shouldn't matter.
