How well does Harry's one work? Have you talked to anybody who uses it? Also, a lot of the GPS based ones are dependent on how well the phone's GPS works and how well the cell signal is so some apps might work better on certain phones etc.
diablo superbiker is a great app for that and your iphone can sit on your dash. wii give you a lot of info and pretty accurate lap times for the track and a lot of info even for just cruising around. heres a lil screen shot of a data shot off of my phone

Harry's lap timer is cool because it does video overlay. At mosport GPS signal wasn't that great so speed readings are off. An external GPS receiver would improve the signal alot, im looking into it for next year.
I might try Harry's timer, it's cheap enough even if I get a dedicated system in a year I won't feel like I've wasted $10-20 on the app as long as I get a bit of fun out it.
It's not the signal you need to be worried about. The signal is the same everywhere in the world. The problem is that most phones only update the GPS position once a second. I bought an external bluetooth GPS that updates 10x a second which is much better for lapping.
Yes, it is a Bluetooth GPS unit that goes on the windshield. Works pretty well. The app is still not that great though. But it does give you lap times, and you can put them on google earth
