Would like to spend around 1000. The speakers I'm looking at are jbls n focals. I'm not sure what amp to buy.
The type of music I listen to ranges from lounge/jazz, folk to grunge.

JBL and Focals are both good speakers. The Focal's are a little on the higher end then the JBL's and the price does reflect that. With that being said you won't go wrong with either one. JBL has some good amps as well so if you wanted to you could go with a full JBL set up. The price should be decent and any one of the speakers you choose will be better then any factory speaker especially if your going to be changing your head unit. If your budget is $1000 go with JBL.

I already changed the head unit to a clarion double din few months ago. The sound quality sounds much better.
Should I get a 5 channel amp n install a subwoofer Or just stick with a 4 channel?

How do you like the Clarion double din? I'm looking for something new, but not sure about which one to get so i'm doing a little research on this lately.
