If this does come into effect, they should be only put in residential streets but we all know the greedy government and cops will put them on main streets as well.
Canada has been anti car for as long as i can remember.

I disagree... it's only been since late 90's early 2000's where the media started to make a big deal about street racing have politicians decided that street racing is an easy way to get most of the population to agree with their views...

since then it's been all down hill, 50 over/stunting, noise, modifications/profiling... the list will just continue to grow from there.

anti car/street racing makes a great scapegoat, makes popping headline news and keeps politicians having a job. its bs.

this is a silly idea even if you dont like exhausts.

the winter doesnt bother me(in fact I love it) but all these silly kneejerk reaction laws and by laws have had me questioning living in this country for yrs now...

I don't get it, how can you guys think it's fair to disturb people with loud noise? Please provide your reasoning.

this law isn't about being fair. it's a biased law because it targets a very specific population.

its the principle of the matter.

its a slippery slope when you target certain groups and banning things etc... do not want. so waht if its loud...its barely a disturbance for a few seconds(if at all). never have they disturbed me at night and I live in the hammer for a while.

mind your damn business and dont worry about a few dudes on a harley farting by. omg how dare they make noise lol.

this is an 81 honda how dare you!

how did i miss this?

I wonder if this will also double as a 'gunshot detector' as they call em in the states? they have em up all over -
but they also listen to everyones conversations & have wifi to zee database..

so under the guise of loud mufflers we get government microphones on the street listening to everything..

This is like people bitching about planes. I live in a runway path and even in summer at night with windows open the noise doesn't bother me. Its almost natural to me now

do police/firetruck/ambulence sirens count?

most don't affect me, but I put up with it.

I'm convinced there are UC police at the runs to monitor until someone does something stupid. If you've ever been to the runs, it's only until someone does something utterly retarded do the police come. If it's calm and organized, they never come.

Weird.

I'm all for loud exhausts on bikes, it lets drivers know you're there. If you've ever been on a bike you now how often people turn into your lane, don't even realize you're there and keep driving not knowing they nearly killed you.

These camera's are destined for failure though. Clutch in, coast by, keep driving.

bmdbley'sbro, if you want, i can show you how to build a device that will block all 802.1a/b/g/n transmissions.

It takes about 30 minutes to build (40$ worth of parts), will run for weeks unattended on a car battery, is effective to about a 2 mile range, and is quite illegal. No more gov't eavesdropping.

I'd also like to point out that this is pointless, as if the govt wanted to, they could force ISP's, telco's, and other data carriers to relay all data to them (e-mail, sms, cell & landline calls, stupid max posts. Essentially all voice/video and data traffic worldwide). The problem is that this is a nearly infinate amount of data, and no government in the world has the resources to deliver all the traffic to a central facility, let alone process it.
