Here's a cool pic I had to kinda hide & take while at lunch today. I now work on the same street as one of the BMW M & Individual car development headquarters. Ironically my company has an agreement with BMW to share their on-site lunch facilities. At the same time we all signed waivers agreeing to things like not taking any photos in exchange for security clearance cards to enter the facility. I see the craziest stuff imagineable here. Today I saw a F10 M5 with Akrapovic racing decals all over it flying up and down the street with a new M3 spycar following it. The sounds in this area are mind blowing.
BTW, hopefully you don't mind me posting some pics in your thread but if you do let me know and I'll move them. I know it's your vacation thread and all. Cheers

How close are you allowed to get to the cars? I'd really like to sneak a peak under the hood of some of those cars (mainly the racecars). Just crossed my mind, because I saw some really good interior shots from the E30 DTM car on flickr the other day and it made me wonder.

As you can see from the pics it's not like they are roped off. You can get right up close and touch them if you want but unfortunately I don't think you're allowed to get inside them. If you were to ask the right person nicely they might pop the hood for you, but it didn't even cross my mind when I was there. I didn't want to touch the cars and finger print them up.

Yeah, I loved looking at the engines. When I went back and looked at the pics I took I regretted not taking more pictures of them. I was too busy looking at cool little details and not taking pics. People were probably looking at me weird because everyone was sort of just walking by to motors going "hmm that's a nice looking motor" mean while I'm trying to describe to my friend the mechanical fuel injection system that came on some of the older motors.
I think we were there for about 4 hours.

3 hours spent looking at the M12/13, and the rest of the time walking around in a daze? It looks like they built it and said "Here is our masterpiece. How the hell do we get it to fit in anything?" Is that ever awesome. That M49 looks the tits too... actually, I think I saw one of those in person on sunday.

Lol, pretty much. If you were to redo the exhaust manifold design to position the turbo in a more typical position (up front) you could fit it in an E30 . You might have to sacrifice a couple hundred horsepower, but hey, you'll still be making 900hp right
