1995 540i 6 Speed - Feeler

Hi all

Thinking about selling my car (pic in sig).

Its a 1995 540i/6 speed, oxford green on parchment, 260 000kms. The car is in fantastic shape - don't let the miles fool you. Stock except for 18" OEM style 5's, in dash CD player and lowered (by PO - details on suspension to follow). Car is certified/emissions tested. Running on virtually brand new (probably 500kms) Pirelli P-Zero Rosso's. Asking $5500.

Mechanically solid - pulls very hard, clutch in great shape. Inspected by Chuck's Auto last week, going into Bimmersport tomorrow for a few little things (oil change, more detailed inspection, etc).

Pictures should be up tomorrow.

Bought the car recently, but debating switching to an E36. No rush to sell.

Update:

15 inch stock rims included (as well as spare), Bilstein sports (brand new), Eibach springs, new front rotors (Zimmerman) and pads, new control arm bushings.

Whats the reason for the quick sale? Is it a Nikasil block? Hows the compression?

I'll sell it only if I can get the right price - am in no rush. The reason is that on balance, I've decided I would prefer an E36 coupe - M3 or a decent 328is. I can only pick one up if I sell this car though, and given the work that is currently being done on it, I'm not as eager to get rid of it as I was.

I believe it is a Nikasil block, but I'll have to double check that. Compression test was run by PO a couple of years ago and it was pretty even. I don't have a recent test though. I have only used 91 octane or higher (though I've only had it a couple weeks) and its running well.

Bimmersport went over it this week and other than a few minor things which are currently being addressed (AC drive belt, control arm bushing, front brakes, shocks), it received a clean bill of health.

In theory yes, but I'm really not motivated to sell at the moment - really too busy to look for a replacement - but for the right price, I might decide to part with it. Also, as mentioned above, I've just put a bunch of money into it, and there's no way I'll get that back selling it, so I'm thinking I'll just drive it for the next little while - likely it'll be back on the market next May/June and at that point I'll be far more motivated.

Edit: if "sproule905" ends up wanting to sell his, I might suddenly become very motivated to sell...

haha.. I think we are in the same boat. I have a baby on away and rather than get a minivan, i've convinced the wife for a saloon. Anyway, PM me and we can chit chat about it.

My daughter just turned 4...

My e46 touring has been perfect, room for the stroller and all the junk.

Once a year when we take a big holiday I put a thule box on the roof, tons of room.

Next year it is time for a new car, thinking of going back to a coupe!

Hi all,

I've received a few calls on this so I feel I should update - I've just put a bunch of money into the car, and I know I wont get any of it back if I decide to sell. Plus, I don't really have the time to look for a replacement right now, and so I'm going to drive the car for a few months and then put it back on the market in the spring.

Those of you who called/PM'd, thanks for your interest. Look for this car for sale again (by a motivated seller) next May.
