Damn! That orange '02 is Hot! Hot like craz azn's gonna be when its done! Nothing makes me reconsider the E30 as my "favorite" like a proper 2002.

That orange car looks nice! He stole my seat! LOL. Too bad its a show car though.. you can tell by how worn, and not worn those Yokos are... You can bet to hell I'm gonna drive this 2002 hard!
I am close! Still working on brakes and exhaust... found some oldschool strut brace brackets, but without the actual brace , so that will be the focus of material to buy at the next trip to the metal store! Also started to tighten stuff up underneath: driveshaft, diff, mounts, halfshafts, etc... I NEED it running by the end of the month!
I guess its perfect timing to throw up a pic of what the car looks like currently:
I put one of the sets of E30 wheels on the car, and set it to about the height it will run (was to gauge how much space I had for the exhaust) Looks alright I guess. I will love to see how the 15x8s will look, but I need to get two tires mounted up still, as well as the wheel studs put in.
On another note, I started on my vintage sticker collection... Snapped a pic of an old Bosch sticker while I was at Watkins Glen in Sept, and I started to recreate the plug, so one day I can outfit the car in a period correct livery.

I'm hoping she'll be near completion when I come up there in a couple weeks. Will be nice to see it in person! She's looking good so far, except for the blue door obviously. Acutally, if you want some help while I'm up there let me know and we'll put in a days work on it... make my drive up there more than worth while, ya know?!

Hey
Rudy,
Good to see you today man, good to see the car live. Let me check the condition of the trunk lid I have from the green car. If it's good, you're welcome to it, your dad has always looked after me.

Me too! yeah the blue door is meh... but the left fender and front spoiler isn't painted yet either, so no big deal. Don't even get me started on that trunk lol.

Thanks for stopping by John! Sounds good about that trunk!
I started to work on this contraption today
And it will hold up my AFM. Admittedly, it probably should have been built a bit beefier, but since it's temporary, it will be fine.

I can't tell from the pic, but is the bracket bolted right to the AFM, or do you have any vibration dampers in between? It probably doesn't make a difference, but I can't help but think that having it bolted to the engine will shake the hell out of the AFM, which might not be good for it? The rubber intake boot isolates vibration away from the AFM under normal circumstances, but like I said, I don't know if it matters.

Yup, its got two rubber buffer dampers in there. Not to worry, its temporary anyways Now that I think of it... I bet it would be just as bad, if not worse in a solid driveline mounted, race suspensioned E30!

Did you use the little dampers that come on the e30 air box bracket by any chance?

Nope! But I have plans for those too They will be on the car eventually in regular rotation as one of the two sets of wheels I will run on the car. These wheels currently pictured are from the E30 in my sig... I still have to work it out with the buyer if he wants these or not (not super enticing with bald track tires )

Rudy just wants his AFM to die quicker, that way he'll have an excuse to build a stand alone set-up. That way he can build an ITB set-up and run the car with an alpha-n fueling algorithm

Not much accomplished lately, but my sticker collection is growing rapidly! Going to focus on some more BMWish stickers like Alpina, GS Tuning, etc. before I go back to the regular sponsorship stickers. It is hard to sometimes find the period correct ones, as most popularly seen today are the updated, or 'facelifted' versions. Anyone maybe want to suggest a few that they think the car could benefit from?
