e30 experts how do you know...
when the oil indicator light works? and does the oil indicator light turn on when the level is below the lowest line? or when the oil reads on the lowest line?

the little oil can light indicates oil pressure...not oil levels.
if that lights up, shut down and get a towtruck.

Oil level sensor that lights up on the overhead check panel is for oil level and mine lights up before the oil level gets to the minimum - say at the 25% point. It's finicky though.

ok, so we have two lights. one in the dash and one in the overhead panel. Over head as indicated tells you when your level is low like 2 litres usually. the oil light in dash tells you pressure is low which is usually to late. Hence why they call it an idiot light. Because there is no indication of gradual oil pressure loss. It just comes on...so, like said; turn off car and call tow truck and cross fingers your motor isn`t toast.

Ok, this is retarded. Car:"duh e30" is your first mistake. 318i correct? You're taking advice based on a 325.
What are you actually trying to do? Turn the service indicator lights off (little LED's in the middle of the cluster **green-green-green-green-yellow-red**)? Or are we talking about the pressure light (rectangular back lit) that is along the bottom of the cluster?

^^This is the guy who made me leave Bimmercruise to sell him a timing chain cover. He couldn't find the place... no wait, he couldn't figure out the brampton transit because he's from Vaughan so I had to drive up Queen St. to do this moron a favour. ****ing captain bus pass. Read your manual and figure out what fuse it is. Pulling fuses to turn idiot lights off... way to go!! Just put a piece of electrical tape over the light!!

I don't know why I would try to help this guy. This is the same guy that tries to find the bleed screw on the thermostat housing on the M42. Bimmer30, stfu and maybe you'll learn something. Best of luck trying to sell your shitbox.

We need people like this on the forum; adds character, color, variety into the experience...otherwise it would get boring...

Don't bother asking anyone on this website for help! Nobody here is helpful at all and they only want to make smart ass comments and pick on people with less knowledge and experience!
Here is a website where you can ask some really kind and always respectful E30 guys...
www.r3vlimited.com
I'm sure they will be more then happy to help. Good luck...
