Arrow E39 brake job

Hi,

So apparently my car needs a full brake job..I was given a couple of options for rotors / pads...

rotors:
- genuine BMW
- textar

pads:
- textar
- jurid
- genuine BMW
- ATE

What's the difference between genuine BMW and textar rotors, other than the ridiculous price premium? Car is a bone stock daily driver..would the textars warp or wear prematurely?

And what about the pads, I read that Jurid makes them for BMW, is that true?

I hate to cheap out just to save money but I also don't want to be gouged by BMW genuine parts..wondering if going middleground would jeopardize safety or life of parts?

Also, what do you recommend for brake oil?

Thoughts please..

I have used Textar rotors and pads with no issues. I believe they are the company that makes the rotors/pads for BMW.

I have also used Balo rotors including on an M5 without any problems.

I had pagid pads but mike at marenello bmw (on this board) has really good service and price

I prefer OEM dealer BMW parts as they last longer than online mail order of oem bmw parts like pagid, textar

Brake fluid I just use prestone dot 4 from Canadian tire or if I have the ATE blue brake fluid

i used to run OEM pads. They are ok but very dusty. Your wheels will be black from all the bake dust. Switched to Akebono Ceramics...love them. No dust

The difference is that BMW roters don't rust around the hub area because they are coated. You can get the non-BMW rotors with the coating, you just have to source them, look for the "coated" in the discription of the part and be prepared to pay a little more.

+1 for Akebono pads.
