Help installing rear window trim

Hey guys, I'm currently in the process of putting my e30 back together. I'm having a bit of trouble installing the rear window trim piece. I've tried lubing it up but no go either. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
Its this piece below

are you speaking of the piece which sits just behind the window trim? looks kinda like a boomerang? if so, that piece should just pop in place. You gotta give it a good nudge. Also make sure the clips aren't deformed otherwise you'll be having some trouble.

Nope, its the outer trim thats just rest there. I believe the lip inside the piece needs to slip inside the rubber.
