How is a short drag race a good comparison?? I'd like to see how the Porsche n Lotus do on a track against the 1M. My guess is the Porsche takes it.

ya but speed isnt the only thing they test. they compared ride quality / every day driving / price / usability / practicality / simplicity . . .

no doubt on track lotus or porsche would take it for sure due to their mid engine geometry . . .
top gear should've done a longer comparison..
plus 1m was 0.5 faster than the E92 m3 on their track which is pretty odd.

Took a 1M out for a spin today.. pretty impressive, but would rather have a slightly used N/A V8 M3 for the same price. The last of the Naturally Aspirated M cars. From what I understand, Forced induction from here on...

Yah NA power is awesome and I'ed take it over a turbo car, although the 1 series is much more nimble and seems like it would be more fun to drive, prob why it matches the M3

mid engine does not make a car better on the track, they are less forgiving when things go astray!
