Where to go for an honest clutch job
Guys, my clutch is starting to slip a little under hard acceleration. Where to go for a resonably priced clutch replacement and where do you suggest I get the parts from? It's a 2003 540i M. Thanks in advance!

well i've always gotten my work done at pieces d'auto l.s. vaudreuil
they're straight up and honest, maybe a little slow but great work
and the best part is they're a parts store in front and garage in back, and they have really great prices

Go to Canadian Tire on Carling and talk to Ralph (service manager). One of the only people i trust with my daily driver & my track car.

Yea, what he said! Ralf and his guys rock.
As soon as you walk in and see the type of cars on the lifts, you'll know it's not your typical CT auto service shop.

Hey man! Got your new place yet? You must, I haven't seen you driving by!
You know how I am with my E30. The only garage it's ever been is to Autovation, for a clutch. I refuse to give recommendations for anything anymore, but I'm just saying I had a relatively good experience, for someone who is impossible to please.

Hey! yes I moved in September. Love the new place. I can now put both 540s in one garage.
Thanks guys, I'm going to try Autovision. Once the clutch is fixed, I'll drop by on Fridays. It has been a long time!

Have you even been to Canadian Tire on Carling? Have you ever talked to the service manager, Ralph? Do you realize that almost ALL Motorsports Club of Ottawa members bring the cars EXCLUSIVELY to CTC?
Know your facts before you assume that all Canadian Tire's are the same. Ralph and his crew know BMWs inside and out. Ralph has 3 or 4, and two of his most trusted mechanics (Phil and George) have BMWs themselves.
I would never bring my car to any other Canadian Tire, but Ralph has proven himself time and time again. Best service I've ever received.
And if you're willing to pay $5000 for a clutch job, who is really getting ripped off?

^+100000 on everything Shawn said. Unless you've been to CTC, you don't know the service that Ralph and his crew (phil/george) provide.
I have been there many times, and will continue going because of the reasons stated above!

ok guys, I talked to Derrick at Autovation. I got an estimate of $1,100. This includes labour, parts (clutch kit), and the machining of the flywheel. Any thoughts on price? Fair?

for broad generalizations that spread misinformation. CTC is awesome.
How about you go there, talk with Ralf to get some work done, then tell us how your experience went?
