Lock isuees PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Hi guys,

My cuzzin has a 1999 e46. He has a problem with his locks. The key fob will lock and unlock the doors no problem. However the key cannot lock or unlock the doors and the central locking does not work.

I checked other forums and ppl have said it could be the GM5 module, but here problems also included the key fob not opening the door.

Please help!

Is it condition permanent?
Did anything led up to this condition?
Does turning the key in the door lock works?

people dont use the keyholes much and therefore all kinds of dirt and grime enter it and make it hard to work.
you will need to service the locks before using them

thanks

thanks for the reply,

i was suspecting that the locks not working with the key and the central locking not working must be linked somehow by the way fuses have already been checked
