Rattling Issue with Front End

I've been having an annoying rattling issue from my front end. Sounds like a metal clip is loose and floating around while I'm driving and from time to time, sounds like it even catches on something and literally sounds like its snapping off.

I've gotten the car on two hoists now without finding the problem. Anyone else have this happen or know what I'm talking about? It's not the driveshaft, linkages, shifter assembly or anything with the front brakes. It's also not motor related either as the noise is loud enough to not be from the motor unless all of a sudden my crankshaft came out of the block.

Car is an '05 325i
