floor mats are optional?

Hello,
This is my first post here and I recently purchased my first BMW. I bought a 2007 328i. One of the certified series that came off lease. Glad to be part of your group.

I have a question regarding my purchase.
I am being told by the dealer that a 2007 328i BMW did not come equipped with floor mats. Although this may very well be correct, I must admit I am shocked. I have never before purchased a car that that the floor mats were optional and additional cost. My short experience with my new car has taught me that BMW is as good as it gets when taking care of creature comforts and leaving out the floor mats is very strange. Can anyone confirm that my information is correct?

Thank you

I know when I bought new,, the floor mats indeed were optional but for a Pre-owned. it should have come with it. unless the leasee took it out.. should have negotiate to include the floor mats during your purchase...

Check with Mike(Maranello) he is a sponsor here, he can give you a good discount..

My new BMW came with the fabric floor mats. Rubber ones were an upgrade.

I previously bought a certified pre-owned and that came with fabric floor mats too but I think for a pre-owned, you would get them depending on whether the previous owner returned the car with them. You can trade in your car without floor mats.

I got a CPO car and it came with the fabric mats. The salesguy got me a pair of brand new rubber mats as part of the deal.

My CPO had the front rubber mats but not the rears. My sales rep got set of new rear rubber mats.

Just ask...they are not going to let you walk away over a set of mats.

I don't think rubber mats are standard in any car, new or used. The fabric mats, definitely. That said, they're often thrown in as part of the negotiations.

mats

So I guess the info I got from my dealer is correct. The floor mats are optional in a new BMW and certainly not necessarily supplied with a CPO. Thanks for the feedback. Based on this I will not pressure the dealer for a set of mats.

I must say, this is the only car I have ever purchased that didn't have fabric mats standard.....I would have thought the mats were an integral part of the road noise reduction........I truly am surprised.

Again, thank you

How do fabric mats help with noise reduction?

Carpet is an additional damper between the road and the drivers compartment. Any soft material will absorb sound. Thats why material is often attached to the inside of the hood on many cars...it absorbs sound waves.

It is reasonable that the majority of road noise will find its way into a vehicle through the floor.
