Planning a swap from old triangular airbag sports wheel to M3 wheel any probs?

Hi all,

As far as I knew it was a straight swap from the old triangular airbag 3-spoke steering to the newer M3 round airbag steering wheel. However, now I'm reading that the newer round airbag is 2-stage airbag and my old triangular airbag is a single stage system. It might not be just a straight plug-n-play? Will all the connections just fit up without any warning lights? Has anyone done this swap with the old triangular 3-spoke steering? I haven't found a DIY with this particular old wheel yet - any links?
