Local Exhaust Fabricator?
OK - out of sheer curiosity, I pulled the trigger on one of those dirt-cheap mufflers on eBay - the DTM ones that sound pretty good if the Youtube videos are to be believed.
The auction stated that it would fit an E30 and E36 M3, however it just showed up today and it has a SINGLE 2.5" inlet - great for a single exhaust 4-banger, not so great for my dual exhaust 328!
So since sending it back for a refund will cost me more to ship than I paid for it, I need to either sell it, or install it - which would require having a Y-pipe fitted from the duals into the single inlet.
I know that a decent Y-bend can be had at Canadian Tire for a few bucks, but I don't have the facilities to hang it all - so --
Can anyone recommend an affordable and reliable local shop that can fab exhaust ?
Basically need the duals cut to fit, install the Y and fit it to the new muffler

shops hate doing custom exhaust work, unless they are replacing a stock system, then they are all for it.
good luck finding a shop that will not strip you dry of cash for this type of job

my, aren't you little Sally Sunshine ;0
Actually, I found a guy (from recommendation) in Metcalfe who said he'd do it for a hundred bucks. He fabs bends in-shop, and seems pretty fair. Haven't decided 100% yet, but he seems the best bet for now.

Meh, I'm not sure I'd even bother. Resell it on Usedottawa or kijiji and get one with the dual inlet.
I have heard great things abotu Dan in Metcalfe.
Whatever you do, get pics!

If you're talking about Dan's Muffler and Brake, I have been very pleased with the work he's done for me. He did a custom exhaust on my 85 300ZX a few years ago, and repaired the exhaust opn my late father's Country Squire. Prices are fair too.

I've heard lots of people say that Dan came through for them. I tried four places before giving up and buying a welder. Unless CT has new stock, they don't have a suitable y adapter. You can buy one from magnaflow and might be able to get it on hottexhaust.com which ships from Canada, but I think carjoe is right: sell it and get one that is dual inlet.
Hottexhaust.com have a bunch, I've order lots from them, good service.
You can also make a y-pipe with a 3" to 2.5" adapter and two smaller pipes, with lots of crushing, bending, hammering and welding. That's what I did the first time. It was the ugliest thing ever, but it worked.

When I checked CT, they no longer carry what I need, so I just picked up the Magnaflow from on-line - I figure that when it gets here, I'll either see about having it installed, or dump everything for a new one - difference is, a new one installed is gunna be at least three hundred bucks or so for parts/labour. I'm in for less than $100 already, and if it goes on the car for even the $100, then I'm still better off. Not to say that I couldn't just get rid of it if I didn't like it - but good to know about Dan. Thanks guys.

I dunno, sounds to me like you're just putting this thing on to put it on. No real need to swap it out. If you're going for the look, add chrome tip covers or soemthing.
You're curiosity is going to be more work than it's worth. Do it once, do it right?
