Received Voice Message From Dealer RE: Software Update

I missed a call today from the dealer, they asked me to call and book an appointment because the car needs to be brought in for a software update.

I couldn't call back because I got the message after business hours.

Has anyone received a call like this for their 2011 335?

If so, does anyone know what this update is for?

Found this, apparently a CEL problem of some sort.

You should fire her into the dealer ASAP!

I wonder if that's really it, I take my car in regularly for car washes, I'm sure they would have updated the software at that time.

If I can pry the details out of the SA I will share the info.

Pry? I wouldn't let them touch my car without explaining to me what they're doing. Also, if you get the TIS code for the service (i think it would be on the statement, i'm not 100%) i'd be able to tell you what its for.

Also, stop taking your car to the dealer for car washes. Dealerships suck at washing cars.

I always get a free car wash when the car is at the dealer (BMW Toronto)

Could be another HPFP fix, they have been updating the 2011 cars for that but they have also been adding new anti-tuning features to lock out aftermarket tunes.

When I worked at BMW, I used to run my friends BMWs through the wash anytime if they stopped by if they wanted, for free... only took a few minutes.

However, it's a pretty hardcore wash, I don't know if I would wash my new minty black BMW in there though lol.

Spoke to the dealer, it's an update for false dash warnings and for the HPFP. I've already got the newest pump according to the dealer.

I've read posts about software updates causing the low pressure fuel pump in the gas tank to prime when you pop the trunk, unlock the doors or open the door. My car already did that from day 1 when I drove it home from the dealer. So there must be another update since that time.

Perhaps, I think the false check engline light on the dash is a 2011 exclusive issue, but I'm not 100% certain.
