I had the same problem and it turned out to be a short in the vanos sensor. Good thing it was under warranty because it would have been a $700 fix.

Thanks for the info. I will run it by them. How did they find out that it was the vanos sensor?? what car do u have?

I have a '06 325i.

I had them check out the rough idle problem and the tech found a error code of some sort. Apparently he had to take apart the head, re-install new wiring harness portions and sensor - and then put it back together..along with new oil and seals and such.

Took a few days to get it done.

i had this problem and got it fixed at the dealership. it was throwin faults tho. anyways it turned out to be an eccentric shaft sensor that had to be replaced
