Are there any easy to get computer certificates?

Are there any easy to get computer certificates?

By easy, I mean like read 1 book, write a test and BOOM! certificate.

By certificate I mean cert's such as A+, MCSE, etc.

You can basically go and write the exams whenever you want. You don't even need to take a course or read a book beforehand (but you'd have to be quite silly to do that!

I have a few friends who are bright enough to be able to pickup a book, learn everything in it, and then go and write the exam(s).
With myself, for certain things the book is fine, but for harder subjects I need to enroll in classes.

I forgot to mention as well, A+ is the easiest to get, and probably the best one to start with. There's a lot you will learn that you didn't know before about building a computer, and a lot of stuff that you'll just laugh at because it's so ''procedural''

I work in network security and MCSE's are generally frowned upon... actually I've never worked with one that was half-competent in my life. I think you'll find that a lot of them (I'm not saying all, by any means) have never actually worked in the industry, as a sys admin or other - they know the books, the know the answers to the questions, but have no idea how to really impliment what they know in a real corporate environment.

So I wouldn't worry about the MCSE too much, more and more these days people are looking for experience over credentials.

Oh not to mention its VERY expensive, you would be best to get yourself into a company that is willing to pay for you to get it.

So what certificates are actually meaningful nowadays?
