hey guys got a question about this annoying problem I am having with my sisters car.
Its a 2002 Bmw 320i.
When the car is running the coolant light would come on randomly and then go away randomly and i cant seem to figure out why.
i checked the coolant level and all is well.

check the plug wiring at the sensor. Could be loose or cracked.

You feel bad for someone who has a problem which can pretty much be ignored with no ill effects? I should tell you about my cars.

Your system is not bled properly and you are actually low on coolant !
I had identical problem. Problem is when the car is cold it will show full on the stick in the ET and when the car warms up the coolant light would come on, indicating you are low. When the car cools down so you can check the level, it would shop full, am I right?
Its because of when your thermostat opens it will drain your expansion tank if the system is not bled properly and if its not actually full and you will get a low coolant light on the dash, BUT when it closes > the light will go away.
This is why I ALWAYS tell people to bleed their cooling system when the car is on, because you need the thermo to cycle.

that's really not a problem. The dme is taking a bit to get the signal from the sensor. Change your sensor. it may be a bit slow..lol remember it's pretty cold outside.

How do u bleed it while its on? Turn the car on let it fully warm up with no coolant and then start pouring it in with bleeder screw open?
I'v done it multiple times on my 05 with the car off and never had coolant issues.. level was always right and no flashing cooling lights

You need to add coolant. Once the car is running, the temperature rises and the coolant expands, so seems like there is more and the light goes off. Once it cools down, the level goes back down.
