car runs cold

due to the weATHER my car is not heating up to its fullest potential, what should i do?

Maybe you need a warmer thermostat? Or try blocking off 1/2 the radiator with cardboard for a temporary solution.

Some cars take quite awhile to warm up.

My car on the highway hits 135 - 140F coolant temp max.

^^ those are good suggestions. As you know with my situation recently. I would think your thermostat needs upgrading to an 80 degree one. and preferably a oem one since aftermarket are touchy. I have a 71 in my car right now and it barely creeps over 1/4 mark. But I still get look warm heat at best.

hmm, yours it at the 1/4 mark? Mine at normal operating temps is just below or right at the middle mark.

It's your thermostat, I had a 318 that use to warm up but when driven the temp use to drop.

T-stat for sure... make sure you get a gasket when you get the tstat too. Super easy job on the M42.

drain all of your coolant and take it for a spin, that'll warm it up.

thanks guys, i have already blocked off a bit of the grill but not much of a difference, and i dont really feel like changing the t-stat cause ill have to end changing it in the summer, so ill just cruise for now, hopefully thats not bad?( running my car at that temp)

if your temp gauge is stayinh 1/4 u need a thermostat like e30e42cab said get the gasket and thats it make sure u bleed the system and boom u got nice heat

If the motor is running cold, it will probably be using too much fuel also.
