1984 318i Build (1jz content)

^ sure did, I bought another 1jz-gte with a front sump and am keeping the old one for parts. Plus the new motor had the wire/cam covers on it...

Ok so as you can see in the previous picture I picked up my intercooler the other day and I've since been busy modifying my lower rad support to make it sit as far back as possible..here's what I've done.




Just need a few spot welds in the new plate.

here is how the intercooler is going to sit once its mounted

Finished the rad support and starting giving the engine a make over



Took a wire brush to all the turbo piping and painted the valve covers.



I still need to swap intake manifold

Sorry, maybe I missed it, but are you running stand alone?

^ I don't plan on running stand alone untill 2012..I just want to get it in and running stock before anything else.

Ok so I'm ready to send away my wire harnesses to have a swap harness made, however, the shop doing the conversion harness requested that i try and provide a pinout diagram for my engine harness as they don't have one and it would make it easier.

I've been searching online for hours and cannot seem to find a pinout for an 84 318i (m10)...can anyone help me out?

^Thanks, I've been through these manuals, great schematics and wiring diagrams, but no pinout info. Thanks for the help though, I was able to obtain a main connector pinout via a member of another board so that's a start.

Sorry for the novel but I should have some updated pictures in the coming weeks. My wiring is sent away and a harness is being made. I've received a new timing belt, serp belt, some hardware, and am waiting on a shipment containing my new waterpump, thermostat, pulleys, and front main seal.

Got a couple shipments of parts this week and went to work..

First off the timing belt tensioner's bolt holes were stripped, so i swapped out the oil pump front cover, which left me where I started today:


Next went on the new waterpump, front main seal, and HKS timing belt:


Now it was time to bolt up the aluminum pulley kit:


And the covers went back on:




And the car with the intercooler bolted in, and the bumpers back on (Stealth):

So today i decided that I'd mount my boost gauge where the stock clock used to be..

Here's what I fabbed up:




Got it installed but forgot my camera at home...but it looks as stock as it can being an autometer gauge. I'm liking it a lot.
