e90 problem
2009 e90 323i auto with 10000km on it now. there is this problem that happens once in a while, when i start the car up the rpm sometime just dips really low. You can feel the engine struggling, but after a while it goes away.
Does anyone know what the problem is?

Could be running too rich when warming up. Why not take it to the dealer and have it checked? You have a warranty, you should use it.

Dealer asked you to put in regular gas ... did you try it? and did it go away...
what am i getting at.. is .. the dealer should say " bring the car in and we
will check it out" instead of just telling you over the phone to use regular gas, so premium gas is the issue ????

If there is an ethanol content higher than 10% it will cause funny things to happen. use SHELL 91 and re-analyze

I have not put regular gas in the car as I don't see how putting ethanol or 87 Octane will do anything for my issue. They said that if the Check Engine light doesn't come on then they most likely wont find anything. I have always used Shell 91 Sunoco 94 and doesn't matter what I use the same thing happens. I sent the guy I got the car from an email and he said he will try to look into it for me. If I hear anything I will let you guys know.

No didn't go away.
I know they should have said that but they were trying to say that the 2.5L in the 323i doesn't require Super which makes no sense to me.

Thats funny because my car (2006) would idle weird like it was about to die and eventually would stall (randomly out of nowhere even while driving down the street) and they told me not to use any gas but ESSO 91.
I have had this problem 4 times and each time I have brought it in and they say a cam shaft is misfiring....the most recent time they "flushed" my vanos...(whatever the hell that is) and its been fine for the last month or so...
I would take it to the dealer but even then..I don't think they know what they're talkin about...

I just started my car this morning in about -8 degrees celcius and it struggled to stay above idle and almost stalled. I have an 07 328i

mine stalled out on the colder days but once it was warm, no problems. it always fired right up after.
my uncle said his '07 328i only does it when its colder then 5 degrees and when its been parked for more then 10 hours or so.
edit; mine being an e46.

It's worth increasing the idle speed and especially if you have an auto.
