also. i have 2 bags of sand in my trunk with a shovel. so the sand will add weight, and if i get stuck i could always open up a bag of sand and pour is around the tires helping with traction.

ASC+T saves lives

I have salt in the trunk. I warn everyone before doing this that salt can damage the interior of your car, mine is double bagged.

Jumper cables, ice scraper, rainX, all great ideas. im running voll syntese 5W30 for the winter, no problems. the gas tank always full idea has really worked for me before i put the salt in, big difference full/empty.

as for my rad, that's a great idea

anyone got a pic of exactly where i should put said sheetmetal/cardboard?

I just dump my clutch and floor it, steer right to turn left, and vise versa.

hot kimchi noodles in a big thermos. i enjoy sipping my hot soup while watching newbies with white knuckles barely manage to go straight on slippery roads.

other essentials:
- blanket and heat pack
- always leave extra gloves in the car. you know how easy to lose them.
- matches and candles. substitute for car heater during long bumber to bumper traffic. gas saver when you have to shut off the engine in dead traffic.
- real manly shovel.
- reflective triangle
- booster cable
- cell
- portable air pump. you neve know
- rainX
- ensure sufficient supply of cigs. you never know
- tow rope. as tower or towee
- some snacks optional
