e38 noise

Hey i have an 01 e38 just started making a weird noise that i can hear from the left driver vent hopeing its the exhaust but im at 270000 kms now and it got me thinking about the timing chain and i cant seem to find when the guids need to be replaced does anyone know or know what the issue may be.

what kind of noise is it making?

timing chain would be obviously loud.

i think its an exhaust leak to be honest but does anybody know when the chain has to be done

there is no specific time that the chain needs to be done. It just needs to be done, well, when it needs to be done.
