you can google this info.

and it depends on the generation...but there are plenty of modifications to the car that make it an "M", even for an e36 with its ("NON true M motor" compared to the rest of the world..llulz its still a decent motor)

there is a good number of things the M has over your 328i no matter how much some would like to down play them.

M package is mostly appearance and in some cases suspension.
M motors - S code - are based (to a limited degree) on stock M code engines.
It is a possible to convert non M to M but the vin will never be M car vin.

I have done searches for this, but mostly just find the displacement and HP/Torque specs without any real comparison information. Is the cam running higher lobes? Cold air induction? larger pistons? etc.

Other than swapped injectors and the cold air intake, I am pretty sure there are no other changes to mine - come spring time, I would like to make a few 'tweaks' to add more power and am looking for some ideas that will be cost-effective and won't grenade my engine on its first outing.

To me putting a fake M badge on your car doesn't make sense. The only people who are impressed by an "M" badge are usually the same people who know enough about cars to know your car is not really an M (the same people who will laugh at you for putting it on a non-M car). Doesn't make sense... IMO ruins a perfectly fine car and makes the driver look like a dick.
