Error Codes

Hello:

I have a 2003 530i. It has 100K kms on it. I've been away for 3 months and the car was not used during that time. On Friday I got home and took the car out however all sorts of lights and error codes were present:

eml light
DSC light
Engine light

Codes (read with OBD 2 reader)

P1501 Idle Speed Control Valve Stuck Closed
P0171 System Too Lean (Bank 1)
P0174 System Too Lean (Bank 2)
P0306 Cylinder #6 Misfire Detected
P0305 Cylinder #5 Misfire Detected
P0304 Cylinder #4 Misfire Detected
P0303 Cylinder #3 Misfire Detected
P0302 Cylinder #2 Misfire Detected

Any ideas why this has happened ?? I reset the codes but they came back several times.

I would start with the first one. The Idle speed controller is pretty easy to pull off and clean.

If you were away for that length of time the battery could be low on voltage in which won't help the situation. Get the battery checked out (it may have a bad cell) and clear the codes and see if they come back. If the battery has to crank the engine alot to start it, it may draws battery power from the other circuits and the result is the output of codes.

Is the vehicle actually misfiring?

I don't think its misfiring...sputtering on start-up yes...
