vw on BMW

i bought a 1995 golf and it has some nice aftermarket rims on it. i want to put the rims on my 84 318i but not sure about fit. i tried one rim and it went onto the bmw fine, i then went to put the removed bmw rim onto the vw golf and it wouldnt fit over the hub. i am pretty sure the size difference is minimal, just wondering if anyone knew if it is safe or what the size difference is betwwen rims on these cars. i love the vw rims but not at the expense of fing my car.
cheers

Both hub bores should be 57.1, so it should fit. Maybe just check if there is corrosion or rust build causing it not to fit. If so, just a light sanding should do it.
