Mike P - a young man with an old car, and many ideas. Mike's project begins with an E30 325is, lowered, beautiful black paint, and body colour matched wheels (and small brakes). The stock 2.5L M20 in its day's was a sufficient powerplant for some with a fair amount of aftermarket add-ons to pump up the power. In this day and age, the unspoken standard in power output is in the 300hp range either modified, or factory. Again as we all know, heavy modifications can also mean heavy repairs when things start to go wrong..so what would give you:
A) Keep up with todays unspoken standards
B) Maintain factory like reliability
C) Still leave potential for modifications
D) Fit and look right at home into the E30 chassis
E) Bolt in without heavy modifications
The answer to all of the above: S50B32 w/6speed transmission
...and so the project begins.
The engine was not the owners only concern, with great speed comes great responsibility for you and your passengers safety. Mike's concern was that the stock rotors/pad would not be enough, he looked into a Tilton brake system paired with a front BBK from Massive Brakes.
The swap is becomming more common around here...our last one on the list is a Targa E30 M3 with a similar setup...so stay tuned for that one, for now enjoy some eye candy:
Yes, I know it says No oil on the VC..but there is oil in the engine
