Fido scam?

Hey guys,

I just got a call from a weird number +7 (809) 498-98-9 (seems incomplete) anyways i pick it up and a lady said "for being a loyal Fido customer you have won $3,000.00 Fido Dollars. We need to confirm your details. Do you want to hold for the next representative?"
I asked if they were calling from Fido and was put on hold so I hung up. seemed fishy.

anyone else had this happened to them?

Mike

Googled 809 apparently the area code is for Dominican Republic and the British Virgin Islands

809 is dominican republic. I guess they're hoping you'd return their call and nail you with long distance fees

Thanks for the heads up! I personally never give personal info over the phone unless I made the call to a number I have verified!

Have you notified FIDO? They should know...

Anytime i get calls like that.

I tell them, If you are really from rogers/fido/bell you would already have my information.
I will not tell them anything.

i got a new cell phone # with rogers back in april or so, and for some reason i get these random calls ever so often from these weird numbers, i don't answer them since i don't recognize them as well and these numbers are fishy,

here are the numbers i recieved calls from... luckily my phone has a "reject" option so it automatically blocks these incoming #'s.

919 888 037 056
1 000 012 3456 (how f**cked up is this #)

any one else get calls from these #'s....
