Hi everone, I recently bought a '96 e36 for a toy and am very happy with it. My question is I'm looking at trading in my wifes Cayenne on an '06 535xi with 120000 km's on it. Any feedback on reliability issues and things to look for.

HPFP issues... google it.
if you are one of those guys who just goes to whatever gas station and will put whatever gas (87) then this car is not for you.

Although most euro cars recommend 91 and most will be happy... the TT engines are very picky. North american gas is one of the dirtiest and even at 91 you have to be careful where you buy the gas, as it may cause a CEL.

The most important thing is 535 started in 2008 as lci models with upgraded lights and other minor improvements... pre 2008 was 530i only

earlier e60s had some idrive issues... i would check the car in and out for everything before purchasing and see if all the recalls have been fulfilled as long as you don't have the 2004 you are good.

there have been ac problems but there is a tsib for it and other minor issues... nothing big.

I have an 07 e60 and so far so good but my mileage is half the amount of the one you are considering.
