How much did it cost you to ship a car from the states?
Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone can give me an idea of how much it costs to ship a car somewhere from the states to Ontario. I just want to see what the rates are, please tell me from where the car was picked up, and how much did it cost?

In 2005 I bought a vr6 golf from New Jersey and got it shipped here for $600, no joke....two years after in 2007 my dad bought a Mercedes ML500 from Texas and he shipped it here for $1100.
Those are the only two I know. What we would do, both times we would call truck transporting companies and ask them for quotes. They will do a better price then a company that actually send out a guy to pick it up and transport your car back.
The trucking company sometimes sends a guy out with a shipment and on the way back so he doesn't drive "empty" will pick up the car back. They will only charge you for the length of the car. Because your not filling up the whole 53 foot trailer, they will charge you only for 8 or 10 feet or so. You just need to bring the car to a "dock" so they can load the car into the trailer and tie it down to the floor of the trailer.

Just fly down and pick it up. I went to Florida to get my car one way flight was $170 and the gas was about $400 for 10 days of driving and 4000miles. If you go there come straight back it will be less or if you stay and bring someone you'll be splitting the gas.
As a comparison flew return to florida and the flight was $415 which ended up being more then when I went to get the car.

I am taking it you do not live in Ontario for that journey to be 4000 miles?

It obviously didn't take me 10 days to drive home I took vacation while I was at it. We went all over Miami and Ft. Lauterdale, Disney World and we spent two nights at Deal Gap running the Tail of the Dragon. The actual drive is at the most 2 days from Florida so you could fly down on a Friday and be back at work Monday if you really wanted but who the hell would what to do that.

Shipped many cars. Probably about 20 or so E36 M's. Average cost shipped to Buffalo was between $600-900, ranging amywhere from Ohio, to Cali.
It will save you a lot of money to get it shipped to the states near the border and drive it over yourself if you can. Less paperwork and headaches for the truck driver, so it will save you some cash, but unfortunatly won't save you time.
