So this is my winter beater, but I've been driving it daily as I commute 110km each way 4 days a week and I don't always want to put the bimmer through that. I'm not
going to hide anything
, hence the comprehensive problems list. I've fully checked it out and documented any problem I could find. If you actually were to fix all these, you'd have a perfect car. You'd only have to fix a few to have a reliable winter beater. These are known as the most over-engineered cars by Mercedes.
I want $800 for it as is
Mercedes Benz 190E
Engine: 2.3L 8 valve
Transmission: 5-speed manual (rare!)
Mileage: 372 000 km
Transmission->driveshaft flex disc (front flex disc)
Clutch slave cyclinder
Lubramoly "semi-synthetic oil for high mileage motors" every 8-10k
Tightened up shifter linkages
Does NOT burn oil
Always started (even if it takes a few seconds), never let me down
Awesome on gas - 6.3L/100km highway
Shifts smooth into every gear
Just cleaned up the interior, looks sharp
**Starred** parts can ALL be had for $400, including complete tie rod each side + middle, OEM from a local shop.
-1 header leak
-replace rotors and pads all around*
-FR wheel play: tie rod*
-replace rear (diff) flex disc*
-shifter linkages may loosen again
-squeaky rear drivers suspension
-vibration somewhere in driveline right at the clutch-catch-point in first (only when car is cold!) [could be the rear flex disc?]
-drivers windshield sprayer clogged? was working previously
-no aux fan
-AC not working
-mechanical engine clutch too loose...supposed to be magnetic, check fuse; will not overheat unless in traffic jam; turn on heat in the interior, and it doesn't overheat, even idling, but not the most comfortable thing to do in the middle of summer.
-small diff leak
-thermostat o-ring gasket should be replaced; not leaking though
-missing airbox intake duct
-leaking tires (probably need to be remounted)
-no spare rim
-rear windows don't work
-oil pressure gauge sometimes needs to be flicked or tapped to pop back up
-backlight behind fan speed slider only comes on very rarely
-wiring for low/high within FL headlight fried and taken out. Everything wired directly to car harness.
-antenna doesn't retract all the way.
-4 way flasher button is a little sticky. If not released properly, turning signals don't work!
-passenger seat heating stopped working; check fuse
-rust, dents, faded paint/clear coat peeling
-cracked headlights: plastic foglights and punctured glass on FL
-missing trim around ignition key hole
What it's meant for:
It cleans up nice:
