Checking her receipt as she left a downtown Canadian Tire, Chris Colorado noticed a new charge.
Her $1.99 bottle of dish soap was accompanied by a 13-cent “eco fee.”
The levy for thousands of new products, from pharmaceuticals to fire extinguishers, quietly came into effect July 1, the same day as the harmonized sales tax.

You know what the funny thing is about the Eco tax on TVs and all this shit.
a) You pay when you buy it
b) You have to pay when you throw it out too.
They should have an eco tax on food too because you shit when you eat and that shit isn't very eco friendly.

That's what you pay now for water.. you pay for water coming into your house(consumption) and then you pay for water going out of your house(sewerage).

That eco tax has been around for a while. I can remember last fall when I went to do my first oil change on my car I saw eco tax on the crappy tire receipt and was like wtf...

guys we've had it on things like oil and paint for a while. This is now on DISH SOAP. And it pretty much doubles the price of bags of concrete mix according to contractors.
