Going to auto auctions - not being a dealer.

Is there a way? I remember hearing you could go to an auction if you have a master business license. True?

I've just always wanted to go, check out the cars, find out what the profit margins are and what not.

thanx.

Abrams holds a public Police auction at their Keele and Steels location every couple months or so. Not that many cars to choose from but there are a few nice ones.

North Toronto Auction is a public auction that is held every other saturday. I have helped friends buy from there a few times. Basically, you just pre-register before 5pm on the night before the auction, and show up with your ID. You can go around the grounds looking at cars before they go out to auction and the rest is pretty much the same as a dealer auction.

The North Toronto auction place has a site http://northtorontoauction.com/main.cfm, you can check out their cars there but from what I've seen there's almost never anything good. Also, Simplycars charges a flat rate for buying auction cars and the owner's an honest and nice guy so you could maybe ask him to see what there is next time he goes.
