Don't rule out the 2.8 stroker.
All you need is a M52B28 crank, 130mm rods (i.e. eta rods), and stock 325i pistons, compression will be very close to a stock 325i... slightly less as the piston ends up sitting 0.5mm lower (I think) than stock. You'll also need a spacer for the crank which MM sells, and you'll have to double check clearances between the crank and the block and the crank and the piston skirts to make sure nothing will hit... people have done this build before without even mentioning this so any modifications (if any) will be minor
I'd definitely like to build one of these motors in the future... with ITB's... and some meaty cams
