Mark-D chips on gas
Just had chip for my e39 M5,
Move down slowly from 11.2L/100km to 10.2L/100km after driving 1hr 40mins with average speed of 100-120km/hr on hyw 401.
10.2L/100km is the lowest yet since I had this car.

Is this for real? Honestly can't expect better fuel mileage when you increase your HP. Only way to do anything about it is to clean the injectors and run new fuel lines. Maybe you have junk gas, who knows! Can't say that it isn't responding better now can you?

Leaned out + optimized fuel curves + tweaked timing = better fuel economy. More power with less throttle = better fuel economy. Not exactly surprising....

It's not really leaned out. The part throttle maps are running a bit more fuel but with the more advanced ignition timing, the motor is using the fuel more efficiently.
I thing that presquile can get even better mileage, as he had some O2 sensor related errors when he came over.

so this increases performance and gas mileage both or did i misunderstand?
Also, i don't even have an m5 and i've never seen lower than 13.2L/100km. Somethings probably wrong there on my end.

After I had chip from mark, I was only focus on monitoring mileage since I was deadly tired.
I never too much care about m5's gas mileage, because I don't drive that much.
My daily car is chysler300 and kia rio.
I was just wondering how good it can be since Mark mentioned about better gas mileage.
I tried to go lower below 11L/100km before just because I was boring on hyw 401 but never made it until last night.
Honestly, I was driving as moderate as possible on 6th gear.
And it took 1hr and half with 150km driving until it shows 10.2/100km.

Is that 13.2l/100km a combination of city and highyway? You should see around 10 or 11l / 100 km if it's highway only. My E34 M5 uses 9.5L/100 km on the highway at 130 km/hr. A retune by me will save you at least 5% on fuel costs.

I can confirm better fuel mileage on an s52.
Before I was averaging ~10 L/100km on my daily drive.
Since the tune I've been getting closer to 9 L/100km I need to go through a few more tanks to confirm. But I can tell it's more efficient when I'm not hammering it all the time.

I dropped from near 11 to near 10 on my S50. Got 11 with both stock and JimC/Conforti tunes, and 10 with MarkD. Significant power boost, too.

Since I developed the S54 software back in 2005, it's out of development. Unless you want to put 6 small turbos on your roadster, then I'll need a development vehicle.
