I'm kind of stuck in a bit of a dilemma, I love my 318i but it has quite a few problems and I'm thinking I may need something more practical for college and other travel.
For some reason my battery seems to be draining when the car is not running. I think it may possibly be bad wiring but I'm unsure. It will run great one day, and then won't start at all a couple days later. Anyone have any idea as to why this might be?
The AC and heater are also not working. The blower might be out but once again I'm not sure. It also has a host of other more minor problems. Although it has had quite a bit of work done on it in the past, and had things replaced.
As much as I love the car, it has extremely high body miles at 250,000 and 120,000 on the engine, and I'm not sure if its really worth it to throw what will likely be at least a $1500 and likely even more to get many of these things fixed. I'm very limited with what I can spend on a vehicle right now, and I'm not sure if its worth keeping this car. Even though it runs well (when it does run), with the batter dying and other problems I may be in over my head. Especially since I don't know a lot about cars, and don't have much money to get it fixed. Although regardless I kind of have an emotional attachment to the car so its a bit hard for me to get rid of.
tl;dr: Can anyone give me any direction as to why the problems might be occurring, and maybe opinions on if I should trade it out to get something more practical, or if I should just keep it and drive it as is.
I bought this car for $3000. Also its a 5 speed, with maas rims, after market stereo system, lowered, etc.
Heres a pic:
