I don't think most BMWs can pull off flat black look. But of you are serious, you might find this interesting:

Hi Gang, bringing this back to life...

looks like I am gonna go for a full repaint in a different colour... Not gonna worry about the engine bay because I dont plan on selling my car ever...

I am gonna do all the body work myself and get it all prepped up for painting and try a find a decent shop that will do the spray for me... Unless someone has an HPLV gun with a massive compressor they want to lend me...

I know I have a lot to learn, but I think I can handle what is needed to do a pretty sweet job!

Will be coming along with a bunch of questions when I start, but that prob wont be till end of may...

What colour do I go... open to ideas...

Anything but black, unless you plan to wash it every 3 days so it looks nice.
(I love black cars myself)

I would go with BMW anthracite:

There was an Alpina B7 at Otto's a month ago. Same color, but it was darker. I loved that color.

For blue, Mercedes 501 amazonite blue looks really nice. Used on SLR McLarens.

The plus side to going with black is you can paint the car at sections. But for metallic colors it has to be painted all at once to avoid mismatch.

The Anthracite is very nice... I was at Elite BMW for the unveiling of the new 5 and they had the 550i in that colour... very hot...

I am a big fan of black despite the need to clean it all the time, I used to love cleaning and detailing my black Passat, 3 hours every saturday, i was happy....

I am also thinking blue, kinda like this one
