not vin fraud in anyway

you simply go to the MTO with all required paperwork and register your m3 as 328 since that model of m3 is not in the Canadian database. the mto database is vague enough that as long as the vin is clean and all paperwork is present car be registered.

I remember reading about someone saying that their car was registered as some sort of custom car for that reason and was exempt from emissions testing? I could be wrong though.

Does the car still have to be 15 years or older to bring it in and register it as a 328?

^^no. You can register an M3 CSL as a e36 318 if you want. This is illeagal, insurance wont cover you in an accident, etc.

So in that case i can import a 99 evo m3 and register it as a 328.

Aren't they gonna see that the car is a 99 m3 at the customs?Whats gonna happen if they do find out?

They will look at the german paperwork, which will state the first registration date, so they will know. They will give you two options:

1. Ship it back
2. Give it to them to be destroyed

I'll wait acouple of more months to get the evo. I was hoping to get one for the summer, but I guess I'm out of luck.
