Fire-Pits in the GTA?
Is it legal to have a fire-pit in your backyard?
I see them for sale just about everywhere... Home Depot etc... but is it legal? or are they meant for the cottage?

yes! That's what I'm looking for... We were walking through Home Depot/Lowes/Rona and noticed a few of those fire pits by the BBQ's... I was going to buy one but hesitated...

It's a tricky one. Even if you did not need a permit, some of our houses have such a small micky mouse backyards. You really need a decent spot where you can play safe with fire.

I don't know if it is true, but I have heard that if you claim to be cooking on it, it is legal. I was told just have a pack of hotdogs beside the fire and say you were cooking them.
I think it really depends on your neighbors....I have one and have used it a few times with no probs.

I know a lot of people that use those 'Home Depot' ones, I've never heard of anyone having problems with them... They are so nice to have going at night when you have a party and whatnot...
...****, now I have a craving for marshmallows... Thanks guys

lol. Thx for the replies. I'm going to stop by a fire station and run the question by them. I'll post the answer when I get it.
