Just for the sound difference on an S14, I would say that ~1500$ is well worth the money spent!

everlast... I could care less about rigidity. And I'm not racing so I don't really care about the 1kg (or whatever) savings. I don't want a delorean, damn thing is ugly.

Stainless options would be nice, that's it, that's all.

So why the comment "+ way stronger"? What would a stronger sunroof panel do for you?

Anyway, a stainless sunroof panel would be hella expensive unless it was flat. Imagine getting someone to make the slight compound curve?

If all you're worried about is rust, just find one that is in ok shape, take it all apart and get it blasted, epoxy sealed and properly prepped at a body shop. With a new seal and proper maintenance it will last for many many years.

I should make one just for the hell of it.

Seriously though, who wouldn't like SS fenders. Every spring I start thinking of how much I hate corrosion. And by time you prep, paint, protect/undercoat/seal normal metal, you're at the weight and cost of SS anyways.

By strong, I meant dent, scratch, cut resistance. SS is tough stuff... just go to the dollar store and buy some low grade chinese SS pot. Try cutting it with your tin snips, scratching it, or putting holes in it, you'll be surprised.

Too bad there isn't a chinese factory popping these out for 20$ each.

Not meaning to start a debate, I just hate rust.

I'd rather have fenders made in fiberglass than in SS. Lighter, and won't ever corrode/rust either!

at the risk of a debate....

SS will still rust. the difference is that the rust on SS is mainly on the surface.. you still have to maintain the SS and when you see some rust you remove it with diluted muratic acid and rinse with a power washer.

i used to design SS outdoor products

not sure if anyone mentioned yet but, thanks Rich for looking in to all this

I've seen some cheap SS rust, mainly the unpolished or brushed types. Hell even cutlery will surface rust if you keep it in a salty puddle for a few weeks.

Fiberglass, man I don't know. I think it's because of all those ugly cracked valences everyone sees, makes me dread anything fiberglass. The mounting areas crack and you have a piece half flapping off in the wind.

I seen a pic of an orange e30, has what looked like aftermarket rear wheel flares. I'll try to find the pic and post it. I think they are that hard flexible plastic.

Rich, if the price is ~400 I'd be in for one. Only other issue is the sunroof seals are NLA from BMW if I'm not mistaken? So would this CF sunroof come with new seals of somekind already installed?

I'm interested depending on price. However, I'd much rather have a glass sunroof if possible.
