I definitely need my GM5 replaced has anyone tried getting quotes from the dealer on replacing/reprogramming this thing? It seems to be getting worse with the warmer temperatures.

GM5 module is expensive, parts/labour, minimum $700, check this link http://www.bmwgm5.com/

I have the same issue with mine as well....instead of going to the dealer and getting ripped off, Im planning on taking it to Bimmersport and let Charlie and Jon try and fix it up for me...
Its a pain in the summer because the car doesnt unlock period...and if you're carrying a passenger - good luck trying to get them inside!

Yeah it's pretty embarrassing just standing there hitting unlock then lock until it works.
If you do get it fixed at Bimmersport let me know if it works, and cost!

I'm also having issues with locking. I sometimes have to try unlocking my car 2 times, usually happens every 5 cycles or so.

This is the general module. Known issue and a pain in the ass.

I had an aftermarket system with two relays, one for unlocking and one for locking. The one relay was making poor contact, thus only locking worked! I had to figure it out on my own. Confirm that the module as described is actually seated properly - maybe switch with a friend (or nice dealer) to see if that removes the problem.
As far as frozen locks, get the penetrating oil in there to drive the moisture out.
