E36 tire size question.

When I bought my car last year, it came with 2 extra tires. I didn't bother to check the size, then, cuz well, usually people buy the correct size tires for their car, and they were free.

The 2 extra tires are 255/55R16.

The tires that are on the car now (all around) are 205/50R16.

Am I correct in assuming that the 2 extra tires wont fit on the rims I have now?

im running 225s and the rubber sticks outside rim.. I dont think u can go any bigger than 225 on stock rims but i could be wrong. This is something i would be interested in finding out as well.

Not even close to fitting.

By the way the tires currently on the car are an inch undersized, get the stock size next time (205/55 or 225/50).

Not only is it too wide for the rim, but the tire is way too big.


Maybe he had an suv n gave you the wrong tires.

Sorry guys, I made a mistake on the tire size of the extra tires.

The correct size is 225/50/R16.

My car is lowered about 1-2inches.

Does that change anything?

Yes, that means they will fit as that was a stock size.

I don't think you should run only two with your current 205/50/16s bcus they smaller and it may throw the abs n asc off.

205/55/16 is the right size or did you make a mistake their too?

No mistake this time, I triple checked, and wrote it down each time I checked again. I didn't rite it down the first time, which I should have.
