Quebec Safety

I just got a house in Gatineau, and transfering my cars might be more of a headache than expected. The caddy was no problem, but i've been told they are pretty strict with older cars.

Problems with my car atm which I fear might cause to fail safety.
- Exaust has a leak (working on replacement)
- Rack is has a leak (z3 rack going in before as well)
- Interior domes don't light up when opening doors, gong doesn't sound either
- 2 chips in the winsheild, on the passenger side, chips only, no crack spreads
- ABS light is lit up because sensors are not plugged in (purchased h&r with bilstens from an old 318 with no ABS hole for the cable to go in)

So, if I brought the car in as it is now, I'm assuming i'll fail hard, but would I be able to get away with the windscreen chips? Dome light and abs fault?

I tried to sell a car to a QC'er once and it was a terrible experience. The failed it on about a dozen things, including rust on the underbody (!).

I'd get the chipped fixed at Apple (or do the fix yourself with a kit) and pull the cluster to remove the ABS light. For the dome lights, it could be a sticky door switch. Pull it and test it; easy fix if that's the fault.

For the dong and the light i'd go for the door contact

Have you tried doing the Safety Check in Aylmer thought... I bought my car in Ontario, so did a friend of mine. they are less picky and less severe than the people in hull or Gatineau

I don't think it is that bad, I have passed and failed a couple of inspections in Montreal.

Failed on the horn not working and the washer pump. (2 seperate times
... stupid intermittent problems surfacing at the wrong time)
Any brake, fuel, steering, exhaust leak will fail you, as will any rusthole that you can poke a finger through.

ABS fault I don't think so, nor the windshield but I am not sure.

Lights or gong you are ok.

Bienvenue au Quebec!

well there is no e-test. and yeah, once the car is plated in quebec no need to go back each year. the only way you could face another inspection is if a cop think that your muffler is too noisy. Basicly, the police has to order you to do another mecanical inpection.

and i do think the windshield could fail you along with other stupid things... such as worn out wiper blade

So, pretty pist right now. My 04' Cadillac SRX FAILED!? One of the license plate lights are out (1of2), my power steering allegedly leaks? And my tie rod needs to "be tightened". If my truck can't pass this is a joke! It's immaculate.

I'm starting to think I'm just going to drive the e30 off a cliff instead of trying to pass safety.

As for the house warming,... Who's got a jack, tools and overalls! The only positive thing about moving here so far is the cheap beer to make everything else better lol.
