Dinan parts...

I'm wondering where's the best place in Toronto (and area) to get Dinan performence parts? I'm thinking of getting the "Free Flow Exhaust" & "High Flow Cold Air Intake System" for my 325i (2002) i guess when it's available for the 2002 model year.. How much would these parts cost normaly here in Toronto? Because i only see the prices on their site in USD. Also, how much would the modified chip cost as well? Thanks..

Not the cheapest place, but check out your local bimmer dealer if you cant find any other sources. They will be very expensive though im sure.

There are two main places to get Dinan stuff in the GTA.

Beach Auto is trying to get into the Dinan game in a big way, but I've heard less than wonderful things about the tech's there.

Engineered Automotive is the primary source for Dinan parts / installation here in the GTA.

All of Dinan's prices are going to be in USD, so you'll pay for the exhange rate (which Beach is charging at 1.65 for software and 1.85 for hardware....!!!).

Personally, I would stay as far away from the Dinan stuff as possible. Steve Dinan stopped doing any research on his own stuff long ago, and most of it is just minor adaptations of previous stuff.

I'd say a better choice would be an ECIS Cold air intake; much cheaper, and potentially more effective (though I have my doubts about ANY CAI....).

As to exhausts, much of the Dinan stuff involves simply coring out the existing BMW exhaust, instead of building a completely new setup.

I called Engineering Automotive, the lady there did not know what she was talking about.
i needed an intercooler installed, she said they can do it, but it turns out they cant.

The best thing to do is call DINAN directly in the STATES,

the number is on there web site.

That of course, is assuming that Dinan builds good stuff.

That's a stretch at best. Outside of North America, nobody has ever really heard of Dinan (he's a non-entity in Europe).

Most of what you're paying for on the Dinan side is the name; he no longer does any of his own R&D, in fact, he has a brand-new Dyno-jet in his shop NEVER UN-BOXED.

Most Dinan exhausts are merely a cored out factory BMW exhaust, instead of an exhaust which is built from the ground up.

I'd stay as far away from much of the Dinan stuff as I could, as far better packages exist at far better prices out there.

I was talking to Marcus Glarner the other day, and he's had some cars in recently with Dinan software on them. Engines would ping at ALL RPMs throughout the range, on 94 octane (Sunoco) gas.
