E38 SUSPENSION UPGRDE NEEDED (sls & edc)

I'm going through the stage where I'm wondering if I should keep it factory or not and would like some thoughts as I am feeling stuck.

1. Keeping it factory is expensive as it would cost $3100 plus just in parts from the dealer and I have not seen any after market parts.

2. Go to aftermarket springs and shocks ... but what to use ... I would like it to be stiffer and tighter but not feel all the bruises on the road. (What to do with the EDC/SLS System .. gut it out?)

Hi there, well here is a complete parts list of the suspension components that I had refreshed just this past January.

Along with these, I added H&R stage II springs for the 750 and bilstein shocks on all four corners. Best thing is to delete the EDC/SLS system as they tend leak/break eventually and cost some serious coin to fix, so you are better off deleting the system and going with conventional springs and shocks.

A great resource for our cars is www.E38.org with tons of tips and tricks for known problems.

If you are not mechanically inclined, then I would hightly recommend Charlie @ Bimmersport Automotive as he quite familiar with my car and has done all the work for me.

Great info 740 ill. I thinkt im going to do what you did in the summmer. Im still pondering over if i want to touch the rear ones. :S I dont want to lower the rear. Just the front. Give it that insane staggered appearance

Does anyone know a good place to order Bilstein HD shocks and Eibach Pro kit springs in a kit?

@Dammerung, I would highly recommend doing the rear at the same time. Otherwise you will have different spring settings front and rear and that will do no good for your soon to be new suspension.

I've ordered my Shocks, Struts and Springs and waiting for it to arrive. I'd like to know how the SLS/EDC is deleted from the car. Does anyone know the details of how its done?

what did you order? Bilsteins? I think 740ill has a hook up with bimmersport for the delete. PM or Quote him and ask
