Power Steering HELP

Hey all,

It seems that my power steering is not working. The car has been standing around for about 2 months since the last time it was actively driven and I also changed the tires from summer to winter. (When I was at the shop they told me to drive onto the lift and then car bottomed out at the front because the dude who was doing the rim changes was a douche)

Anyways... it seems to me that the power steering WAS working when I was driving to the shop but later that day it wasn't. The rims I have on it now with the winter tires are the stock LTWs and I had them on before without any issues.

Today I checked the power steering fluid level and it was fine. I even added some to make sure it's there. There's no visible leaks anywhere under the car.

Any idea what's going on? Is it possible that when the car bottomed out on the lift something was damaged underneath? Wire got cut or something?

Any help would be great... I can bearly turn the wheel at low speeds.

I'm having the same problem and after I flushed the system it became worst.

I just want to know if anything could have been damaged when the car bottomed out when it got on the lift because then I can go back to the shop and talk to the guy who did it.

I'm only going to be driving the car for the next 2 weeks or so while I'm in Europe but I'd still like to fix it, especially if it's an easy (cheap) fix.

where did you change the tires? Check to see if you hear the power steering pump working when turning the wheels.

Does it ease up if you rev the motor and turn the wheel?

My bet is pump.

The shop is in Europe... I'm pretty sure you won't "run" into it... lol

I'll listen for the power steering pump and see if it becomes easier to turn if I increase the RPM. Thanks for the replies.

anyways if the ps pump is working, try changing the ps resevoir itself. They have a micro filter and it goes bad in due time. I had the same trouble, where it felt like I had no ps, but i changed the resevoir and the fluid more often and its much better.
