Where to start?

Hey, Im new here, introduced myself earlier last week
I have a 92 525i, and so far I want it a tad bit quicker. What are my options? Simple bolt-ons? Or something else? And can someone please explain to me what VANOS is and when does it active? I heard its like Vtec, all it does is adjusts the cams to different profiles.

Thanks

Welcome. Good choice with the e34. Look into a good tuning chip for a bit more power. Maybe a fan delete if you're feeling up for it.

Being a 92 build car you more than likely do not have a Vanos M50.

Vanos isn't really like Vtec. Where as Vtec uses two lobes on the cam, one for pre vtec and one for when it engages vtec in which it uses the more aggressive cam lobe.

Vanos is more of a unit that changes the position of the camshaft. There are no seperate lobes for higher rpm, or lower rpm. Also in a sense it is always on even at idle and it's not really meant for power more for emissions.
